History/Overview
Shortly after the Dodge B series van left the market, the brand came back to the people-hauling segment with a rebadged Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. It was the first European-style big van to be sold here (though already for a few years with other badges) and while the DaimlerChrysler mashup didn't last past 2007, the brand that is now Ram Trucks has kept the same concept. This time, the Ram Promaster is a rebadged Fiat Ducato, another Euro-style van. To fill in the lineup for commercial van buyers who didn't need quite that much space, Ram introduced the ProMaster City, offering a rebadged Fiat Doblo with a similarly boxy shape but a more city (and budget) friendly footprint.
New
Commercial vans don't change often, because that's the way fleet buyers like it. The ProMaster City has no changes for 2020.
Available Trims
The ProMaster City Wagon, the passenger version of the van, comes in ST and SLT trims.
Standard Features
ST is the base model and offers five seats and a carpeted floor. It also has a Uconnect 3 infotainment system with a 5.0-inch screen and Bluetooth connectivity. It has black exterior trim and 16-inch wheels and the rear doors open 180-degrees for easy loading. There's a tilt and telescoping wheel and a locking glovebox as well as AC and power windows.
SLT adds premium cloth seats and body-colour exterior trim, mouldings and mirrors. The steel wheels get covers. Inside are also a height-adjustable driver's seat with armrest, cruise control, tinted rear glass, and a leather-wrapped wheel.
Key Options
Both can add an optional infotainment system with the same-size screen but with navigation added. A full-size spare, rear parking sensors, and rear wiper are on the list, and cruise control is available for ST.
Fuel Economy
The ProMaster City Wagon is estimated to get 11.2/8.3 L/100 km city/highway.
Competitors
There aren't many small commercial vans around, but the ProMaster City competes with Ford's Transit Connect and the Mercedes-Benz Metris, as well as more conventional vans like the Chrysler Pacifica or Honda Odyssey.
